Posted Date: 6/25/2020

If you were unable to attend the College's PDC Forum, you can now view it on the College's YouTube Channel. You can claim 2 Continuing Competency credits by viewing the forum and completing the questionnaire.

CDHBC Forum: During this year’s forum, The Registrar provided highlights of the newly updated Dental Hygienists Regulation and Bylaws, including the change in registration categories, information on local anaesthesia, and an update on the Cayton Report released last year.

Registrants who attended the Forum may claim hour-for-hour continuing competency (CC) credits. This activity would fall under Content Category F.1 - Ethics & jurisprudence.

PDC Continuing Competency (CC) Credits:

  • Registrants may claim hour-for-hour credit for attending PDC courses related to their professional dental hygiene practice.

  • Registrants may claim 2 credits for attending the PDC exhibition hall. Please note there is a maximum credit allowance of 12 credits per cycle for attending any dental/dental hygiene related conference exhibition hall.

  • All learning activities should be recorded within each registrant’s Online Learning Plan. The reflection completed for each learning activity, whether attending the PDC exhibition hall or attending individual PDC courses, should reflect the knowledge gained and application to dental hygiene practice.

PDC Course Coding: The College has once again collaborated with the Pacific Dental Conference (PDC) staff to include a coding system within the PDC Conference Program to assist with identifying links between your learning goals and the PDC sessions. In the PDC program, you will notice that each dental hygiene-related session has been coded with a letter-number code (e.g. D.3.) corresponding to one or more specific CDHBC QAP content categories (e.g. Non-surgical dental hygiene therapy). It is important to note that these codes are suggestions only, and you are required to use your professional judgment when selecting courses and determining which QAP content categories the course addresses.
