New this year

  • CPR-BLS requirement deferred to 2023: The current temporary suspension of CPR requirements for the 2022 renewal period due to the COVID-19 pandemic has been extended to 2023. However, registrants are strongly encouraged to renew and maintain their CPR-BLS certification in 2022, particularly if providing direct client care. Read a recent Root of the Matter for more information.
  • Optional Indigenous self-identification on renewal forms: As part of the College’s commitment to Cultural Safety and Humility, in this year’s online registration renewal application, you will see optional questions related to Indigenous self-identification. For more information about this initiative, please read more on the College website.

Annual renewal requirements

  • Criminal Record Check (CRC) requirement: A criminal record re-check every five years through the BC Ministry of Public Safety & Solicitor General is a mandatory requirement for registered dental hygienists. The College must receive the result of a registrant’s CRC from the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General to approve a registrant’s renewal. To complete it, access the CRC online application and enter the CDHBC Access Code: 6YZD4HJAAT, selecting “Request a New Criminal Record Check”.
  • Quality Assurance Program (QAP) Assessment Tool: All registrants in practicing registration categories who have been notified that their five-year renewal cycle is up for renewal must complete the QAP Assessment Tool during this renewal period. Read the QAP Info Guide and the QAP Assessment Tool: Your Questions Answered for more information about the revised QAP Assessment Tool
