PDC Continuing Competency (CC) Credits:
-
Registrants may claim hour-for-hour credit for attending PDC courses related to their professional dental hygiene practice.
-
Registrants may claim 2 credits for attending the PDC exhibition hall. Please note there is a maximum credit allowance of 12 credits per cycle for attending any dental/dental hygiene related conference exhibition hall.
-
All learning activities should be recorded within each registrant’s Online Learning Plan. The reflection completed for each learning activity, whether attending the PDC exhibition hall or attending individual PDC courses, should reflect the knowledge gained and application to dental hygiene practice.
PDC Course Coding: The College has once again collaborated with the Pacific Dental Conference (PDC) staff to include a coding system within the PDC Conference Program to assist with identifying links between your learning goals and the PDC sessions. In the PDC program, you will notice that each dental hygiene-related session has been coded with a letter-number code (e.g. D.3.) corresponding to one or more specific CDHBC QAP content categories (e.g. Non-surgical dental hygiene therapy). It is important to note that these codes are suggestions only, and you are required to use your professional judgment when selecting courses and determining which QAP content categories the course addresses.

The Harry Cayton Report
On April 11, 2019, the Minister of Health released a report authored by Harry Cayton, one of the world's leading experts on professional regulations. Mr. Cayton's report stemmed from an inquiry on the administrative and operational practices of College of Dental Surgeons of BC (CDSBC) by the Ministry of Health. On behalf of CDHBC, Jennifer Lawrence, Registrar/CEO, was pleased to be interviewed by Mr Cayton as part of the inquiry. While the report addressed the performance of CDSBC, it also contained many recommendations to improve the Health Professions' Act and a call to action for all health regulators in BC. The College is taking the time to review these recommendations in order to continually improve by focusing on our mission to protect the public through regulatory excellence.
