How We Serve

The College of Dental Hygienists of British Columbia regulates the practice of dental hygiene in B.C.

The mandate of the college is to ensure that dental hygiene practice is carried on in the best interests of the public.

Specifically, the college is responsible for:

  • Serving and protecting the public;
  • Superintending the practice of dental hygiene;
  • Establishing standards of academic or technical achievement and the qualifications required for registration as a member of the college;
  • Establishing, monitoring and enforcing standards of practice to enhance the quality of practice and reduce incompetent, impaired or unethical practice amongst dental hygienists; and
  • Establishing, monitoring and enforcing standards of professional ethics amongst dental hygienists.
