Protecting The Public

The College of Dental Hygienists of British Columbia is mandated by the provincial government, under the Health Professions Act, to serve and protect the public.

In protecting the public, the college ensures that dental hygienists are educated to perform safe and appropriate dental hygiene services and that they follow a code of ethics and practice standards set by the college.

Board of Directors

The Inquiry Process

When a written complaint against a registrant of the college is received by the registrar, it is forwarded to the inquiry committee with the registrar's assessment of the complaint and any recommendations for disposition of the complaint. The inquiry committee must notify the registrant who is the subject of an investigation, and any complainant, of the disposition of the investigation and any action taken. Find out more...

The purpose of the College of Dental Hygienists of British Columbia's Code of Ethics is to provide general statements of the principles of ethical conduct so that registered dental hygienists may fulfill their duty to the public and to their profession. Find out more...

The scope of practice statement is an interpretation of section 4 of the Dental Hygienists Regulation. The interpretation has been developed to describe the range of services that may be provided by dental hygienists in British Columbia. Find out more...
