Quality Assurance Program (QAP) Assessment Tool
Registrants will be notified by email that they have been randomly selected to begin the new 5 year Quality Assurance Program (QAP) Cycle in June of the year prior to their Cycle start date. Registrants that have been randomly selected to start their 5 year QAP Cycle in the following January will be required to complete the QAP Assessment Tool before renewing their registration to practice.
The QAP Assessment Tool will be open to these selected registrants during the renewal period and must be completed before February 28. The QAP Assessment Tool is an online, 75-question tool that will be completed by all registrants once every five years. In case of an unsuccessful result on the QAP Assessment Tool, the registrant may apply to rewrite the QAP Assessment Tool within 60 days of the first attempt. Registrants who start their QAP Cycle will be sent an email at the beginning of January which will contain the instructions on how to access the QAP Assessment Tool.
How to prepare to take the QAP Assessment Tool is a very individual decision and process. Registrants are encouraged to choose the method of preparation and the amount of time that suits their personal needs. QAP Pilot registrants found that completion of the NDHCB Prep Test helped them to feel more prepared and familiar with the format of the QAP Assessment Tool. Additionally, completion of the Preparatory Test may help registrants determine knowledge areas that would be helpful for them to review prior to taking the QAP Assessment Tool. Two versions of this Preparatory Test are available at http://www.ndhcb.ca/en/prep_test.php
. The Preparatory Test is available on-demand for a $30 fee and is eligible for Continuing Competency credits in the hour-for-hour category.
