QAP Evaluation Report

Posted Date: 3/7/2018

The College of Dental Hygienists of BC (CDHBC) has been committed to gathering feedback and information about the Quality Assurance Program (QAP) since the program’s inception in 2012.

In keeping with this commitment, information about the program has been gathered in a number of ways:

  • Annual registrant surveys regarding experiences with the QAP Assessment Tool and preparation strategies used;
  • Analysis of Assessment Tool responses to determine whether any trends in performance exist by content area and/or registrant demographics;
  • Unique ‘Pilot Cohort’ survey to capture this group’s perspectives on the Assessment Tool, the Online Learning Plan platform, and the program overall;
  • ‘Pilot Cohort’ focus group sessions to explore feedback in greater depth.

Registrants’ feedback about the QAP has been greatly appreciated and was carefully considered throughout the program review and while examining options for ongoing enhancements. The goal of public protection will always remain paramount to the evolution of the QAP in assuring safe, competent and current dental hygiene practice in BC.

The information that was gathered about the QAP has helped to identify areas that are working well, as well as areas that can be further enriched. The CDHBC is pleased to release a report on the evaluation of the QAP following the program’s first five-year milestone. Readers are invited to view the Executive Summary and the full report here.
