Governance & Guidance
The CDHBC Board must govern, control, and administer College affairs in accordance with its bylaws, the Health Professions Act, and the Dental Hygienists Regulation.
The CDHBC Board consists of nine members: six elected registrants of the College and three public members, appointed by the Minister of Health. The first term of office for an elected Board member is three years, and two years thereafter, for a maximum of three consecutive terms. Responsibilities
The Board must submit an annual report to the Minister of Health not later than 120 days after the end of the fiscal year. Its duties also include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Establishing standards, limits, fees, and other requirements of registration and renewal for dental hygiene practice in B.C;
- Providing for the appointment, removal, duties, and remuneration of officers, employees, and agents of the College;
- Regulating and prohibiting advertising or types of advertising by registrants;
- Establishing Committees as needed;
- Determining Committee duties and procedures, including the appointment and removal of Committee members;
- Establishing rules of access to health care records;
- Providing for the general administration and operation of the College.
